Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter January 17, 2020

During my tour I got to see the different rooms where they make some of the products that are sold in the BSA catalog. One of the coolest things is that some of the sales reps gave me items to put in the silent auction. One of these was a prototype 2019 WSJ blanket. I also got two Scout Gnomes that were the unpainted artists proofs. I’ve been invited back soon to meet the rest of the top brass and finish preparations.

Speaking of TORs in a few hours I’ll be pushing off for the Winter South Carolina TOR hosted by Chris Jensen. I’ve said it before but it was Chris that encouraged me to start the Charlotte TOR when I moved here almost 4 years ago. During that time he has helped with ideas, layouts, tables, and promotion. I have adopted his example of trying to help other TOR sponsors through my calendar and sometimes interviews and videos. I hope some of you will join me in a chilly Easley, SC this weekend!

I will have some useful help behind my tables this weekend. My daughter Sophia is going to tag along since she needs a little extra money. It will put me a couple hours later getting to Easley then I’d prefer but with 4 tables reserved that’s a lot of square feet to mind on my own. Plus now that she has been to the WSJ and has been a Scout for over a year I think she can speak the “patch language” better.

I have 80 live auctions on OApatch and 66 auctions on Santeeswapper ending this weekend. This week has been a bit of a slog at the office as my main employee has been out all week. The flu is going around and hit her household. So today I’ve got to finish shipping AND get all my TOR stuff loaded into the car to leave a little after lunch time.

I still need to carve out some time to update my TOR calendar. With orders backed up this won’t be the morning to accomplish that!
