Profile – Chip Payne

I am an Eagle Scout and have been a member of Santee Lodge 116 since 1987. I am originally from Sumter, SC and now live in Columbia with my wife and 3 small children (2 girls (ages 5 and 2) and 1 boy (16 months)). Because of those 3 small children, I am not as active as I would like to be, but I hope to be again in the years ahead.

In my younger days, I was a founding member of Troop 86 in Sumter, Santee’s first Elangomat Chairman, a two-time Lodge Editor (’88 – ’90) and Camp Coker staffer. I received the Vigil Honor in 1995 and have the honor of calling some of the SR-5’s best scouters my friends.

I collect just about anything Santee-related, but it is a stretch to refer to what I have as a collection compared to some of the other Santee guys you’ll see here. Mac McLean, Phil Whittle, Jason Spangler and a host of others have collections. I am still “collecting”……..
