Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter February 5, 2017

It might be a little tough to make out what you are looking at here but these are pallets of Girl Scout cookies! We helped the troop pick up our load at the parking lot of Carowinds and I snagged this picture as we were pulling out Saturday morning. In fact as I publish today’s newsletter Patrick and I have just returned from Boy Scout Sunday and my wife and daughter are manning a cookie booth at a neighboring church.

Although I published the show Wednesday this is the first time in the Hot Finds that I’m sharing details on the changes to national policy regarding youth-adult trading. Russell Smart was my guest on Scouting Hot Finds Radio and shared that at this summer’s Jamboree there is no restriction any longer on this activity. Of course common sense and patch trading ethics still apply but this is wonderful news for the hobby.

In the interview Russell also shared information about visitors and what the policy and dates are. As his volunteer leadership position is in the Program Group we also caught up on changes coming for the 2017 Jamboree. Rafting, scheduling, food service and stadium shows are all topics that he shared new information about.

I am now up to 263 live first time auctions running on eBay. Something told me not to schedule any auctions to end on Super Bowl Sunday! However, I will be launching some new ones tonight.
