Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter January 23, 2018

It looks like my good idea has put down roots in Texas. Some of you might remember the YouTube video where I explained the frames I built to hold Boxware frames that would be table top ready for display. Some collectors in Texas built this example of the concept. While not as polished as the ones Keith Coffey of GA has been making it was fun to see.

This might be the simplest and most effective collection display I’ve ever seen. At the Dallas TOR this simple three ply fold out has color print outs documenting a guys entire hat diamond collection. It’s like a WANTED poster meets educational display. I like hat diamonds and although I apologize for not writing down the guys name I was impressed.

Even at TORs sometimes the most interesting conversations can happen in the parking lot. Saturday early evening as I was waiting to leave I had conversations with two collectors that might bear fruit. One was with a dealer looking to do something different and the other was with a guy that had a business model I didn’t know existed.

I took at lot of my best pieces to the TOR and did manage to make a few sales. With the limitation of traveling in a Hyundai there wasn’t a lot of room to pack the car. When I go to the Indianapolis TOR an a few weeks it will be on Chris Jensen’s patch bus so that won’t be a problem.
