Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 08, 2020

I’ve seen people sharing pictures online of their trips to TORs over the last few weekends.  The typical photo is of their “haul” but others have shared pictures of the venues and sometimes even a group photo of people who attended.  Most of this action is over on the Scout Patch Collectors Facebook group.

I have been in regular contact with my rep at the BSA National Supply Group who is organizing their booth at the upcoming Charlotte TOR.  She shared with me some of the items they will be bringing which include 2017 NJ items and much more.   We are now less than 3 weeks out from the TOR and I have a few more troop meetings and a round table to hit in order to finish the promotion efforts.

After the TOR a lot of my focus will turn to summer camp.  So far we are up about 25% over last summer for registration numbers.  I still have some pretty important positions to hire including dining hall manager.  I also can’t seem to find an adult fishing instructor who can run a pontoon boat and help kids catch fish all day.

My strategy has been to run all of my new listings up for auction on a 7-day run before posting them to the store.  This has given me a constant flow of new listings as I try and build up my new OApatch account to a full 10k items.  This week I have 117 auctions with some of those sending tonight.

Finally to give a quick update on the move.  We spent Weds, Thurs and Fri boxing up and making two trips with a 20′ Uhaul.  That got about 1/3 of the stuff moved.  I still have to take down shelving and get more stuff containerized before I rent another truck.  Ideally my next trip will be this weekend to knock it out but I also need to recruit some help.
