This collection belonged to a retired professional Scouter who worked for the BSA in the 1950s-70s. He has since passed away and it was his children that reached out to me regarding the estate. ALOT of the collection was bags full of left over event patches but there were some jewels in there.
I already have a great plan to pass it on with this collection. I’m going to put together mystery bags with a dozen free patches for Scouts that attend the Charlotte TOR. The trick is I’m going to give them a dozen patches with only 3 designs. They will have all the incentive in the world to trade those duplicates around and catch the patch trading bug.
In this collection I did get a great variety of items from the councils he worked in including Iowa, Nebraska and Florida. As time allows I’ll get those up in the SPC Facebook Group and on eBay so the rest of these items can be recycled into the hobby.
My two big auctions ending tonight are the Type 1 Silver Medal and the Ranger Medal. I have those in on consignment and the bidding is off and running. It will be fun to see where those end up when the gavel falls tonight.
