Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 17, 2015

Over the last two weeks I’ve been given Scouting collectibles at my son’s preschool at three different times. I don’t know if that ever happens to you but it’s quite a strange roll for me. The first was a camp patch and then the next day a dad gave me a merit badge pamphlet. So not a huge haul. But today my son’s teacher gave me some items from her family as they have been cleaning out a house in preparation for selling it. The collection that was from a small town in my county. It had some uniforms and a few neat leather camp slides!

I can understand why the collection of arrow ribbons pictured below is doing pretty well. I never earned many of the awards myself as I was not active with a chapter at the time they were issued. I don’t even remember what you had to do to get them. However, I will be trying for the sash patch this year for the Centennial.

I heard lots of good comments from the TORs this weekend. someone posted a nice after action report on the Wisconsin show and there was quite a bit of chatter about Pittsburgh. Does anybody have any news from the West Coast shows? Five TORs in one weekend is pretty crazy but a good sign for the hobby.

A good friend of mine just bought a VW Westfalia pop-top camper bus. He has a bus club camping trip this weekend and is taking his whole family camping in it to break it in. I thought it was ironic because I took my whole family on the Girl Scout trip last weekend so we are all getting outdoors to make some family memories.

Over on www.ScoutPatchHQ.com I’ve got just over 3,000 items up for sale with the majority of that being OA. My eBay store also has an easy to remember .url that you get to at www.Patchblanket.com.

As promised here is a picture of the mud slinging Girl Scouts immediately after they finished their game of capture the flag when the rain stopped on our camping trip this weekend.
