By now many of you have heard the tragic news regarding the fire at the Central States Scout Museum in Larned, Kansas. The news broke yesterday and I was following the reports on Facebook including some of local collectors rushing to help salvage what they could.
A local news station reported on the fire and unfortunately described it as a total loss. Some of the posts on Facebook subsequently said there might some things salvageable but it was a very sad day for the hobby. The Facebook page for the Kansas City Scout Museum had a photo album with over 200 pictures taken from a tour of the museum in Larned. When you click through those pictures your heart just drops at the collection that is gone.
I got an email from a long time collector of Ed Choby slides that warns people selling these on eBay may not really know what they are talking about. He stopped short of calling it fraudulent but definitely buyer beware on some of the slides including those I have included in today’s issue.
A 50% off sale has attracted some buyers to my eBay store over at Patchblanket.com. The focus of this sale is over 1,700 council activity patches with many of them now being less than $3 on sale. Over on Facebook I have successfully built up my store at www.ScoutPatchHQ.com to several thousand patches with free shipping on all orders.
