Some people might assume there is not much to talk about in this small hobby of collecting Scouting memorabilia. However, I’ve found an endless well of interesting people in the hobby to interview and topics to touch on. Thinking about a fun side collection once you need something easier to chase after? I interviewed Ted Thompson who has been chasing down everything related to SOAR the BSA program from the early 1970s that focused on the concept of “Save Our American Resources”. You can hear that interview here SHF Radio: Collecting Roadblock – the BSA’s Project S.O.A.R.

This week I took a look at the ISCA website to see if I could figure out what the latest was on the ideas to make some radical changes to the Blue Book and bring it back from the dead. With the radio show I recorded a talk given by Roy More at the Dallas TOR a few years back where he talked about the project. It’s not exactly news now but there are some great comments and back and forth in this episode of the radio show: SHF Radio: Order of the Arrow Blue Book 2.0 With Roy More..

Finally one of the things I’ve always tried to do is feature people are trying to do something positive in the hobby. Whether it be a resource website or a new product. A game changer that was first promoted in Scouting Hot Finds Radio is Patchtrends.com by Brett Estrade. His subscription based service is an excellent way to get an idea what your memorabilia is worth. Listen to this episode of the show to hear the details: SHF Radio: Patchtrends.com Is Go For Launch!.

This weekend I’m moving all my Scouting stuff that is not live on eBay up to Charlotte. One of the goals this summer when I’m not taking the kids to the pool is getting back into a habit of listing new material on my eBay store at www.Patchblanket.com and on my Facebook store at www.ScoutPatchHQ.com.
