Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter May 10, 2015

SHF_may_10

I am getting the newsletter out a little bit late since I am just getting home from a two-night Scout camping trip. This was our first time at Camp Mary Atkinson which is a really nice GSA camp east of Raleigh, NC. Our girls tackled the 60′ alpine tower and their fearless leader also made it to the top as we wrapped up the activity. The storm that is heading inland was thankfully creeping along so slowly that it didn’t impact our trip too much. Next Saturday we are doing a river sweep so the girls can earn their Bronze Award and that will about wrap it up for the year.

If you take a look at the listing I included to the right it’s almost comical. Only in the Boy Scouts would we auction off used socks! But as many of you know those old red toppers are hard to find these days and many guys still like to wear them.

I know some teachers have calendars in their classrooms counting down the days until the end of school. Sometimes I feel that way about NOAC. It’s circled on my calendar and probably think about it every day.

When I updated the TOR calendar I inadvertently left out the MENAWNGIHELLA LODGE 550 TOR that is happening the weekend of August 14-15, 2015 in Morgantown, WV. You might not be unpacked from NOAC by the time that one comes around so you can bet there will be some Centennial trading going on there.

This week look for me to get a new piece of content published. Either a podcast (long overdue) or a Thread Heads video with Brad England.
