Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter June 13, 2017

I hit the jackpot and was put with a den where my “assistant” was a mom who was on her third son going through the program so she was a pro. My den chief was a sister from my home pack and she did a great job. Then to top it off I got a lead on a very strong Venturing Crew in one of the towns that is part of our district. I’m back out there today for another round.

Most of you have never been to the “house that Larry built”. The dining hall at Belk Scout Reservation is a wall-to-wall Scout museum thanks to Larry Banks. Pictures would not too do it justice I mean every wall space in the large building is covered in frames, photos and display cases. I need to figure out how to spend several hours in there just to see it all.

Here is another crazy story from Facebook. A guy who speaks no English from El Salvador uses Google translator to reach out to me regarding a BSA sash he has. I share it on Facebook and my friend Todd Rogers says wait a minute this is from my area. I put the two of them together and through more translators (namely Todd’s mom) he purchases the sash and it arrives safely from Central America. I swear sometimes you can’t make this stuff up!

I’m breaking in a summer intern tomorrow who is going to help me with some patch projects part-time. This rising senior and Eagle Scout candidate was easy to find as his mom works with my wife. Hopefully I’ll have some new auctions going on Patchblanket.com right away.
