Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 09, 2019

This is the troop patch from one of the two all girl Scouts BSA troops that attended the World Jamboree. Troop 252 was the Southern Region troop that included girls from TX to FL. Sophia said she had a hard time trading them at the Jambo. I guess it needed to be a little more exotic of a design to appeal to other teenagers from around the world. I think its a little piece of history.

The auctions from the WSJ are continuing to run strong. I don’t know how long before the market turns but I cashed out last night. Now I have to be like some of you and wait patiently for the prices to fall before I step in and get some things I want for my collection.

My best selling auction was the Ireland set. I think that set is kinda unusual because as individual pieces it’s a mess but arranged together it does make a very beautiful arrangement. Some of the other contingents came up with very original sets. My favorite in some ways is the U.K where almost every county or district seems to have made a contingent patch that are all very unique

I still have 16 WSJ auctions up that are ending tonight. These are the odd shaped items and neckerchiefs. It was really tough to trade for contingent neckers but if I ever go back I’ll know what to take.

With any luck I will connect with Brad England today for a new episode of Thread Heads. We are anxious to talk about the WSJ before TOR season starts and we has a hobby move onto the next thing.
