Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 25, 2015

SHF_aug_25

I hope some of you will appreciate getting this newsletter earlier in the day. I’ve about figured out that in order to keep on schedule I have to make sure its ready to roll when I go to bed rather than trying to find time in the morning. Hopefully this will become the new normal.

I think I’m hitting my stride getting back into the classroom. Monday in one 70 minute class I used a history channel video clip, an NPR story, an AP story and a CNN news show. I also video taped some students working together well and showed the video to the class later in the period. To say I’m not relying on the textbook is an understatement. Thanks to all of you who have written to wish me well as I return to the classroom this year after a 5-year break.

I took another look at the market for 2015 NOAC on eBay and it’s only started to gradually subside. There are about 5k listings on the site with 1/2 of those being auctions. That’s down from the roughly 6-7k that I was seeing after the event. Now what is still selling is the real question to be asking.

I’ve still got some of the 2015 Centennial issues from the Scout Patch Collectors Facebook Group available at www.ScoutPatchHQ.com. This includes the new member patch, flap and jacket patch issued this year.

Slowly I am selling down much of my inventory on 2015 NOAC pieces. I think they will have some staying power so I’m not going to discount the price just yet. Instead I’ll keep the auction strategy rolling a bit longer.

I’ve been able to keep up with the crazy amount of eBay shipping that I’ve got going on but just barely. If you’ve send me an eBay message recently please know that I do read them and I’ll respond as soon as I can. I’ve got a lot of pans on the fire just now.
