Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter September 4, 2015

I thought I had set this issue to go out early in the morning but I think I got so wrapped up in watching college football last night that I forgot to pull the trigger on it. So enjoy a rare afternoon issue of the Hot Finds.

At some point my square merit badge collection may get sophisticated enough to chase down teens varieties but I’m not there yet. If you are be sure to check out the early badges on that sleeve.

If you search 2015 NOAC the numbers keep dropping. There are now less than 5,000 items in the category. Most of those are fixed priced listings but there are still close to 1,000 auctions running with that keyword.

Now that the BSA has opened up the rules on neckerchiefs I’ve wondered if youth will start wearing them and maybe the idea of collecting slides will pick up. I haven’t actually seen a Scout wear one in my neck of the woods yet but maybe in places with a little more international tradition this will pick up.

I am pulling the plug on my auto-relist auctions. It’s time to wind it down and move the leftover pieces into my store. I think one month on a 5-day auction cycle was plenty. During that time I racked up 1,800 unsold listings. That’s a bit alarming! Maybe my minimum bids were too high or maybe the market for 2015 NOACs was just that soft.
