Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter September 23, 2018

It’s a small world. I’m sure in Scouting you are often reminded of that. Yesterday during a break in the action at the training event I attended I bumped into a friend from my Scouting days in Iswa Chapter of Santee Lodge. I am pretty sure the last time I saw Drew Dowling was at his wedding. Twenty plus years later he is involved with a troop in our council and his son is a high school band member and chip off the old block.

My pack had at least 1/2 dozen leaders at the seminar yesterday getting coached up. We also had 3 female den chiefs go through a 4-hour training including my daughter. The latest thing I saw on Facebook said that nationally over 30,000 girls have signed up for Cub Scouts.

I was successful in landing the collection that I drove down to SC to purchase Friday afternoon. This one was really special for me because it came from the estate of a Scouter that I really admired and revered as a youth. The collection was full of local stuff and it’s never a bad day when you get dupes on some of your favorite patches of all time.

This week I’ve got over 100 live auctions on eBay. Some of these are relisted after lowering the minimum bid. This group includes some nice felts that I’m on a fishing expedition to figure out what the market is willing to pay. I’ve cut the price in 1/2 from my initial auction so hopefully that is the honey I need to sweeten the deal.

I am looking forward to getting to the office early Monday morning and sorting out the local collection I purchased. I think I spotted 2 things in there that weren’t already in my collection but I’m sure once I really go through it there will be many more. What a great way to start my week!
