Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter September 25, 2016

I don’t think I ever got to meet Cal Holden in person but he casts a large shadow in the Girl Scout collecting circles. He is now long gone home but many people there had copies of his reference work and several told me stories about his epic collection. I talked with some of the folks there about trying to get more collector friendly stuff published up on the web and that’s in the works. Most importantly for me I now know the difference between light green broadcloth and pinstripe fabric (ha ha inside joke).

Today’s OA block has several really nice pieces from the South featured. Check out the 118 round below because the cloth that it’s sewn on cant’ be a neckerchief but I surely don’t know what it was used for – maybe a table cloth?

For the first time ever I sold a Girl Scout item at the TOR (and probably let it go for a pittance of what was worth). But the good part of this was when I came home my wife did see some cash in my wallet so she judged the whole adventure not to be a total waste of time. Two weeks from now I will be attending the Columbus, OH show and I better pull off the same results or else.

Over on eBay I’ve got just shy of 200 live auctions running on all new material that I’ve been posting. Much of this is from a collection I’m selling on consignment that has OA and Jamboree pieces in it.
