eBay seller discovery626 always seems to have good stuff on eBay. He uses a strategy in selling that drives me nuts though as the editor of the Scouting Hot Finds. His titles have nothing to do with the actual item he is listing. Instead he just stuffs the 80 characters with key words that he knows eBay buyers are going to search. Does this bother anybody else? Here is an example that I’m going to put in the newsletter for the picture but the title is useless.
Boy Eagle Air Scout Merit Badge Award Patch BSA Pin Rank Lot Uniform Medal
EXACTLY – its a clever trick but its very annoying. Sorta like they tell you not to write in all caps when you email someone. There probably isn’t anything in eBay’s terms of service against it but I wish he would quit.
I’m sure it bugs many. Over the years I’ve learned to ignore it and all the other crap on that site. I could rant a list of major categories. Nevermind the smaller ones. If everyone asked the seller a question about where the item is that’s listed in the heading, maybe the seller’s mailbox will glut up and cause a rethink. I doubt it but it might be worth a try.
i have often wondered which council office that seller has access to…. it sure looks like there is one selling out the back door to him…
🙂
Perhaps not a true answer, but he contacted me directly about specific excess trading post inventory and purchased everything Cash no questions. Good for the lodge treasury, good for TP acquisitions and by the prices he got, good for him. I does bug me though about his desriptions. Of course I am the one guilty of listing a buck patch with every cliche and hot search term just to see the number of hits I would get several years ago.
It bothers me because it pops up on my saved searches and I’m thinking “OOO might be something good” and then I open my email and it’s something that he’s listed over and over. It’s a smart tactic to advertise, but it’s a bit annoying for it to pop up so many places and not be relevant.
