Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter September 27, 2015

I love the old vintage stuff and that is what always leads off the top of the Hot Finds. I haven’t focused on segregated Scout camp patches in a while but some of you will enjoy seeing what’s the bidding up to on that Camp Panther Landing patch.

I got some good feedback from my soapbox about why we collect and treating this hobby as an investment. I still believe the hobby has a lot of life in it but my opinion is that values are a barometer for collecting interest and some niches peaked and have never come back around. There just doesn’t seem to be as many people spending “lots” of money as maybe there were several years ago building national collections. I could be wrong!

For any of you keeping up with the other things I’ve mentioned in the Hot Finds this week let me report back. The screening of Citizenfour Friday night was a smashing success. I estimate that over 90% of the students in the middle school grades at my charter school attended (many with parents!). As for the Girl Scout camping trip Saturday trip the weather is forcing us indoors at the church but the Scout spirit will still be running high.

As you can tell I have a lot of southern OA in my eBay store including lots from the Carolinas. With the stink about the flag you might be curious to know that since the last year it appeared on a Dixie patch was 1991. I wonder who the host lodge chief was that year? Hmmm…

When you read this most likely I’ll be wrapping up the overnighter with the Girl Scouts. Perhaps I can include a picture of this gaggle of green vested Scouts in the Tuesday issue.
