What’s Up With World Jamboree Girl?

So what is fishy about worldjamboreegirl?  A few weeks ago in my Hot Finds Newsletter I used this eBayer as one of my featured sellers of the week.  I got a sharp email back from a reader who told me he suspected that this “girl” was putting out lots of fakes of patches especially from the Jamboree Service Corps.  I’m not going to place judgement in this blog.  I am going to invite readers to comment (use the box below the blog post) and tell us what you think.  This is a copy of what she places in her description:

Thank you for all my friends and bidders who were patient when I was away on camp STAFF in the Redwoods this summer.  I expected to be able to be in contact better in California (this summer) then when I was in Costa Rica (last Spring).  Instead I had no cell service (unless I climbed a tree on the highest hill, and very little internet on a slow wifi).  Upon my return, my grandma had a stroke and passed away.  I think that I have completed all my trades, but if you still have an open offer let me know and I will consider it.  Illinois has decided not to fund their MAPA grants for College, so I am looking to do some deals to help fund school for the next two years.  Thanks for bidding  If there is something you are looking for that I can help with, let me know.

I bought 5 1987 Jamboree patches and paid $184 the same day. They have not been [posted and I have no reply to emails. I even rang her (from Australia) and the person who answered took the message and said she ould be informed. Nothing!! It is a fortnight now and I think I must open a duspute with eBay.

This is Mike Welsh’s daughter. Look at your paypal statments and you can confirm. She has been regularly selling other expensive items like the Two Rivers – Du Page csp the historical csp set with Chief Shabbona, Aurora Area, etc.

I won a Kashapiwigamak R1 (Wab) on Ebay from worldjamboreegirl (Michelle Welsh) for just under $100 in January (payment sent immediately and U.S.P.O.M.O. cashed), but (although I received an innocuous message — containing similar information as found above — that she was out of touch and unavailable) I have yet to receive the patch, a refund, or a meaningful communication. Most disappointing! I feel obliged to warn possible future Ebay counterparties: BEWARE!!!
Sincerely,
Tim

I’m always digging through eBay listings looking for stuff to put in the Hot Finds email. I came across the exact same patch that was listed in this post from another seller. He is using the same wording as her. I’m wondering if this is the real issue or an overrun or otherwise. Maybe somebody bought it from her and is trying to unload it now?

I have always watched her auctions, because she puts lots of cool East Central Region pieces up, but I have never bought the money has always been tight.
