Check out on this document. Heavy on the legalese but some of you lawyer types might find it interesting.

Bob Jonesing Baden-Powell: Fighting The Boy Scouts Of America’s Discriminatory Practices by Revoking Its State-Level Tax-Exempt Status

*yawn* Too lazy to read.

So if this starts to happen, the BSA can take one of three roads:
1. Spend millions fighting every suit and appeal in every state.
2. Concede and allow gays to be leaders.
3. Concede and give up its tax exempt status but bar gays as leaders.

If I had to place bets, I’d put my money on #3.

well.. it would certainly put BSA even more between the rock and a hard place than it is now….

Of course if successful in NJ and the 12 other states (plus DC) where this is a possibility, it would pretty much financially cripple BSA, as would choices #1 and #2 above….

However my understanding from some ‘back door’ discussions is that this policy is less heartfelt by BSA than it is a recognition of the impact it would have with sponsoring churches, most specifically the LDS church and cause massive withdrawals of support there, which would also cripple the organization….
