First 2009 NOAC Patch Out Already!

This is 2 years away what are they thinking?

Abnaki 102 has issued a new set that makes a nice display piece but the only catch is the pieces dont match up they are to be “mounted” on a collector card!

Abnaki 102 has recently issued a set of patches for Scouting’s and the BSA’s centennial. The set features three oddly shaped flaps and a larger patch in the shape of the traditional flap and chevron two-part set. For those keeping track of how The Rules are being enforced, it is notable that the flaps do not conform to the shape of the uniform pocket flap.

Each patch in turn is dated 2007 through 2010. The 2009 patch explicitly says “2009 NOAC Indiana University”. NOAC is still nearly two years away!

Personally, I think collectors should think about forming an OA “lobby” group to present National with some of “craziness” we are seeing in the OA Flap scene. I would contend that what is good for maintaining the “Tradition, History & Honor” of the OA is also good for collectors.
Issuing patches 2 years before an event, and other “frivolous” issues demean the honor of the society and that will eventually devalue the collect-ability of all OA items.

They may have just been getting them out before the new flap limitations took place. These are out of spec per the new policy from national.
