OA Wichita Lodge #35 R4

OA Wichita Lodge #35 R4, Northwest Texas Council – Mint

Copied from seller*

A very rare and obscure issue used in the 1950’s for Wichita Lodge #35 Arrowmen working toward Brotherhood membership in the Order Of The Arrow. Based on historical information for this patch, there were approximately 20 of them made. They were issued to Ordeal members to wear while working on Brotherhood membership, and then returned to the lodge to be reused again. The number of years in the 1950’s the patches were used is not known.

The patch is a felt white arrow attached to a to a red felt round with a pocket tab. The back is covered in cheesecloth sewn around the edge of the patch, probably to add some stiffness. The owner of this patch knows of approximately 10 of these patches in collections. The location, or existence, of the remainder of patches is unknown.

The patches that are in collections were circulated in the 1970’s and 1980’s by a former scout whose scoutmaster was a very active member of Wichita Lodge in the 1950’s, until he passed away in the 1990’s. The scoutmaster gave some of these patches to the scout who collected patches, and he traded them. This patch is one of the patches this scout had in his collection.

The consignor obtained the patch when he purchased the former scout’s patch collection a few years ago. This patch is guaranteed to be original and not a fake or reproduction. It is an authentic issue and has been listed in Arapahoe, The Blue Book, and The Warshield. This is probably the first time this patch has been offered on eBay.

Don’t miss this opportunity to own this extremely rare item!

I was watching this auction. It was a sweet patch. NW Tex is just south of us here in Last Frontier. I have a bunch of friends from down there and none of them are willing to turn loose of thiers.
