Tutelo 161 First Flaps??

Quote taken from seller on eBay*

These are the leather flaps (L1 & L2) from Tutelo 161 of Blue Ridge Mountain Council (BRMC). L1 and L2 are actually the first flaps of tutelo; I figure this bears explanation.

They were hand made by the last chief of Powhatan 456 for the participants in the first Se-1 conclave from April 27-9, 1973. I spoke with
him at some length, and he said that he made 6 of the flaps with the darker leather, before he ran out. He acquired more (tan leather this
time) and made enough for each contingent member to have one. The original 6 he made he distributed to advisors in the lodge he respected.

These were worn by the members at the conclave, thus making it their first flap (and the Blue book being in error). I have a copy of their article from the section newsletter published that June explaining when their first embroidered flaps (S1 and s2) were made for an event that month, a month and a half after the conclave . Their N1 (not offered here) was made for the conclave in the same quantities.

I believe the quantities in existence of these two flaps (6 darker, 35ish lighter) warrant classification as a rating 10 and rating 7/8 pair of first flaps. Many of the most advanced collectors in their lodge do not possess these. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

This auction is for the 161 tutelo L1, L2, and a copy of the article proving their existence as first flaps.

Sounds pretty intresting right so go ahead and add these rare flaps to your collection starting bid is:

US $1,750.00 was the final on this auction.. glad to see intrest still remains strong in many home lodges obscure pieces!!!

It would have been nice to see more of a bidding war. TSPA has deep pockets and was the only bidder.
