I have been selling Scouting memorabilia for over twenty years. For the last decade I have used the concept of a Boy Scout focused antique mall booth to help me reach more customers. First in Lumberton, NC and later in Florence, SC these booths were my first attempts to learn this unique environment. I moved to Charlotte in 2016 and shortly thereafter got a booth at the Sleepy Poet Antique Mall.
The antique mall booth is my clearance center. Having accumulated mountains of uniforms, books and other hard to ship items this outlet is perfect. Visitors can thumb through the books on the shelf as if they are at their favorite used book store. If you want to slip on a jacket or uniform before making a purchase it’s all there for inspection. My goal is to make this booth a bargain shopping destination for Scouting memorabilia collectors. You won’t find “antique mall prices” in my booth as I have 50+ year old books for just $5. Many of the old uniforms are $10 or less.
If you plan a trip to the Sleepy Poet be sure and set aside a few hours to browse the store – this place is massive! My booth is located on the back wall to the left of the center aisle. I have been there so long any of the helpful employees can point you in the right direction if you ask for the Boy Scout booth.
