Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter January 20, 2015

This should be a good week for new content. I’ve got an episode of Scouting Hot Finds Radio ready to go mid-week. At the Easley TOR we recorded another video episode of Thread Heads with some special guests. If I can just get around to listing some stuff on eBay instead of playing with all these fun projects I’ll be good.

Last night I hung out on the Facebook Group for about an hour and experienced just how fast things move on there. A brand new member that I had just approved posted a picture of a lot he wanted to move. I was the first to comment but I swear within minutes another ten comments had popped up asking for other items. If that’s not an online TOR I don’t know what is.

The bread and butter of my strategy back in the days before the Scout Patch Collectors Facebook Group was to post links to interesting auctions to get some buzz. Those of you who were on the old Patchblanket forums will remember those days. I’ve started to use my Hot Finds Facebook page to do a little of that today. Be sure and like the page so you can see what I’m up to.

I listen to a lot of NPR shows using my iPhone and imagine my surprise when I saw the title of this recent show from the On Point with Tom Ashbrook: “A Golden Age of Audio Podcasts”. The show I’m going to produce this week will be episode 72 of my podcast called Scouting Hot Finds Radio.

At the recent Easley TOR I definitely did a whole lot more buying than selling. That is sorta what happens when you are looking for bargains. However, in my case I also invested in some new collections including Senior Scouting items and merit badges, insignia.

Yesterday we took the Girl Scout troop to an indoor climbing wall facility since everybody had the day off from school. Sophia was probably one of the best climbers in the bunch and her little brother wasn’t too shabby. One of the funniest moments of the day was when I climbed to the top of a high wall. My trusty belay person was none other than my wife who still weighs around 120 pounds soaking wet. So when it was time for me to “fall” off let’s just say I wasn’t the only person laughing at the end.
