Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter January 18, 2015

There is a lot of buzz on the Facebook group following to marquee TORs this weekend. One of the things I was able to do at the Easley TOR was record some great content that I will be sharing with the hobby coming up. I also got to see a lot of collecting friends and brought home a good bit of new inventory.

Of the three pieces of content that got recorded the first was a video shot with Doug Chambers. In my parts Doug is known as the “pin guy” because he collects hat pins. Some of you thought that niche died out twenty-five years ago but he actually sees a renaissance and is very passionate about it.

The piece of content that you are likely to see produced this week was an interview with the Trading Post manager of the Blue Ridge Mountains Council. Marylou came down with thousands of camp patches, JSPs, and csps to sell which filled up four tables. I recorded an audio interview with her and she shared how she has been selling council merchandise on eBay as an official non-profit.

The final piece of new content will also get published very soon. For the first time in over a month we recorded a live round of Thread Heads. I recruited Todd Rogers, Todd Kelly and in the video drafted Chris Jensen along with Justin Carlisle to sit in on the panel. The focus was talking about TORs.

This afternoon my daughter is going to walk the neighborhood selling cookies. We set up a table after church this morning and we are going to knock on peoples doors during the championship football games this afternoon hoping that folks are home.

I am going to start experimenting with advertising in this Sunday issue by offering up my closing block to anyone interested. It would have to be the right fit but if you are interested message me. Today I’m giving a shout out to Mike McAdams and Chip Elliott who authored the Philmont book.
