Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter May 28, 2017

From the collection I purchased Friday the coolest thing was a 1975 lodge NOAC contingent t-shirt. I can’t imagine many of those have survived the 40+ years since the event. It will go up on eBay tonight but who knows if people from Skyuka Lodge 270 will appreciate it like I do.

Sometimes what I love most about getting a small collection is it’s like a time capsule. This guy had the briefcase that his parents got for him prior to the NOAC at Miami of Ohio in the 70s and it still had everything sorted as if he just got off the bus. Another favorite piece was a copy of the 1975 summer issue of the Traderoo Magazine. My lord if Pappy Reininger had lived to see the days of the Facebook Group he would be all over that.

The new Scout Executive in the Pee Dee Area Council is pretty progressive with using the Internet and not afraid to leverage it to sell stuff. Michael Hesbach is offering up at a huge discount on the custom made three digit troop numbers that are old inventory in the Scout Shop. Cub Packs and those that have old style uniforms could use these and they are priced at 1/3 what you’d pay if you were at retail.

The Memorial Day weekend has people going to the beach, to the pool (what we did yesterday) and maybe spending a few minutes checking on eBay. I have been putting up new auctions every night and there are dozens ending tonight.
