Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter February 24, 2015

SHF_feb_24

The snow is falling in my corner of North Carolina and the kids are home from school (again) so it’s a good day to work on patches. I’ve been working on two boxes of camp patches that I hope to have ready tonight to get up on eBay as a fixed priced listing.

Last week I posted my needs in the Tuesday newsletter. That did generate some leads but it also confirmed what I suspected – that my needs are pretty tough! I’ve got just one patch that I am going to highlight in a block below that would make me really happy to fill.

The OA category is definitely popping as lots of people are starting up collections of flaps issued for the Centennial. I haven’t joined the club yet but perhaps if my lodge comes out with a flap that I can then trade that will change.

When I sat down with Russell Smart in January he told me that sometimes the Asst. Adviser patches are hard to find because back in the late 30s and 40s there may have only been one adult leading a patrol within a troop of Senior Scouts. I have a pretty complete collection of those early days for Explorers but the patch pictured here would help me fill a hole in my collection and make my day. So I’m making an appeal to the Hot Finds community – if you have one of these available let me know. Thanks!

I have stopped plugging my store in every single issue of the Hot Finds so I don’t wear out my welcome. Over on www.ScoutPatchHQ.com there are 3500+ items listed for sale including lots of OA.

I have a “date” this week with Brad to film a new episode of Thread Heads. If we can pull it off it will be featured in Friday’s issue.
