Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter January 29, 2021

The format for this video is pretty straight forward. We bounced ideas around and came up with about 4 questions/topics we wanted to give answers and commentary on. The first one was what is something really special that you added to your collection during the pandemic? I am sure some of you would have things to hold up for the camera to respond to that query!?

Our next topic for the Round Table was what are some tips for new collectors just getting started during the pandemic. Bill had some great ideas that I never even thought of. We then tackled a thornier topic. How will the BSA coming out of bankruptcy in 2021 affect our hobby?

We closed by talking about some silver lining (good things!) that happened for the hobby during the pandemic. Yes us all being stuck at home for months on end actually benefited the hobby in a couple of ways. I hope you will take time to watch the video. It’s just under 30 minutes long and it’s hot off the press!

On eBay I have 256 live auctions with a batch ending every night of the week. I always save the biggest group for Sunday and this weekend is no exception. I have 112 auctions ending that night in my Patchblanket eBay Store.

I was shocked last night to read that Randy Holden had passed after a 3-week fight with COVID. The tributes that people are posting on their Facebook feeds show that he was truly a gentleman who was passionate about Scouting and cared about helping other people. He had his foot in the Girl Scout collecting world also supporting the NJ Museum. You know there is an old saying about what people say about you after you die and for Randy the last 24 hours that has shown he was very special.
