Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 26, 2023

My week at the PTC is off to a good start. The accommodations have been great and the fellow Scouters in my section of camp school are interesting and engaged. Friday I got to visit the National Scout Museum and the trading post. I can say the only thing I bought in the tp was ChapStick but I did drool over all the swag. I’m going back once my kids tell me what souvenirs they want me to bring back.

One of the coolest patches I got to see in the museum was one of 2 known 1938 Philturn patches. The OA exhibit was also impressive. I had dinner last night with Russell Smart and he is going to try and show me some behind-the-scenes stuff if I can break free. He is spending months here through June updating exhibits in a major refresh.

I also am interested in how the Scouting museum interprets the history of the BSA to get ideas of what I can do locally. I am sitting on tons of old memorabilia and have many ideas of how to frame it up – so I am hoping to get some inspiration. For example Russell Shared that the 2023 Jamboree museum effort is going to focus on the BSA history of providing service to our communities and nation.

I have 25 auctions ending tonight from a major California OA collection. Meanwhile on Santeeswapper the highlight is some interesting neckerchiefs among dozens of auctions ending Sunday night.
