Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter March 18, 2025

I just got a very good phone call! Thursday I was planning to drive over 3 hours (one way) to meet a guy and purchase a collection. But he has decided to just mail it to me instead because his plate is full. So I just got about 7 hours of my life back and now I don’t have to annoy my wife with blowing up our family schedule.

Today I am going to go pop over and visit one of my neighbors in Union County, NC who is also a well known dealer in the hobby. I am going to pay a visit to see Richard Shields – the Carolina Trader. Ironically, he lives less than 20 minutes from my warehouse but other than seeing each other at TORs and the occasional camp inspection (his wife is on NCAP) we have not connected in person locally.

I am actually going to be doing something today that some of you might crack a smile over. I’m going to break out my ironing board and set it up so I can iron about 50 neckerchiefs. Many of these are ones that I soaked in Oxiclean for about 3 weeks (was that too long?) and now they are crispy clean. You’ll see many of these in an upcoming unboxing video – because out of the box they were nasty!

I have reconfigured my auction schedule and now Tuesday is a highlight day. Of the 205 auctions I have live right now about 4-dozen of those end tonight on eBay. Previously I had about 10 auctions ending every night of the week. But I’ve pushed some of those onto key days so that I can get a little more interest. I’m always experimenting with little hacks so we will see how it goes.
