Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter April 11, 2025
In this week’s video I have a change up from the normal unboxing. At the recent Charlotte TOR I interviewed Hank Birdsong regarding his unique OA collection. Many of you have created collections where you built rules about what you would keep that really only make sense to you. Hank’s original take on this is to collect only flap sand he wants to constantly upgrade until he has the first 3 flaps from the lodge.
I was able to take the audio from the interview and turn that into the first episode of my podcast in 2 years. Yikes! Since laying off the Scouting Hot Finds Live concept (remember that?) it’s been that long since I got in the game. Since then I’ve just done unboxings which I don’t think would work as well as an audio only podcast.
On eBay I have 219 live auctions including many OA neckerchiefs along with various flaps and other issues. In the warehouse today I’m working on getting some listings ready for next week.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
