Sunday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter April 16, 2023

I am sure like many of you it would not be unusual to attend 2 different Scouting events in the same weekend. I just drove from the coast of North Carolina to my hometown so I can attend the Volunteer Recognition Reception for the IWC. So far this weekend I’ve logged about 10 hours of driving and I still have another couple to get home to Charlotte.

The E7 Conclave at Camp Boddie of the East Carolina Council was really good. The weather was fantastic and the logistics of hosting over 800 people went off smoothly. I did get to see a lot of the thread heads from that area although the patch trading was regrettably much less active this time. I guess coming out of the last few years everything will take time to get back to the good old days.

A topic for another day will be the sight of patches removed from the historical display in their activity building. The display was cleansed of anything that might be controversial so gone were all the old East Carolina and Croatan patches of yesteryear. This all happened very recently so the folks there are still kinda shaking their heads about what to do.

On Santeeswapper I have 232 live auctions including a bunch of nice camp patches that are ending soon. Some of these are old felts and 1950s era issues. On OApatch I have 84 auctions from a CA OA collection including a Miwok R1 ending tonight.
