Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter May 30, 2025

In revisiting the episodes of my podcast I could not leave out this interview with Nick Loesch who many of you remember from eBay and TORs. Nick was one of those dealers at TORs that traveled for miles around and always had a ton of stuff. On eBay he was also epic and had one of the larger stores in the Boy Scout category. Nick passed away about 5 months after I published this interview but I think his positive outlook on life and the hobby will come ringing through.

I saw a nice post on Facebook with a fellow collector sharing some of the items he purchased at my antique mall booth in Charlotte. So as many of you are traveling this summer I’ll remind you that if you ever pass through the Queen City it’s located in the biggest antique mall in town – the Sleepy Poet. I’ve got it stocked with items including uniforms, books, patches, mugs, and all manner of 3-d items.

On eBay I have 191 live auctions running including some great Georgia OA pieces going back into the 1950s. The interesting piece is that area 6-C crept all the way into South Carolina so lodges like 87, 221 and 236 were members or that section for twenty years even though in my area people would think of them as a Dixie Fellowship lodge.
