Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter June 3, 2025

In a recent Hot Finds I mentioned the topic of a traveling display along with the idea of council historical societies. One of the responses to that email was hearing from Jeff Morley. Jeff put his experience working with the museums set up at NOACs to create a helpful YouTube video shared in the digital cracker barrel. I watched the video and it has many detailed nuts and bolts suggestions on how to build this out.

Saturday I am attending a camp staff reunion held at Camp Barstow and organized by Tripp Clark. It looks like we will have over 150 in attendance including this year’s staff. Tripp along with me, Darrin Thomas and Brad Hutto are bringing some display items. When I look at my set up in light of Jeff’s video I can see I have a lot of work to do! But for now the cool old photos and patches in my set up will have to do.

I’ve said this before but it was back in 2014 when my lodge hosted conclave that Darrin and I with help from Russell Smart put on a big museum display. One of my most popular videos on YT was sharing how my carpenter built me some custom display cases that work with Boxware. Since then Keith Coffey and others have run with this idea. Since that time I’ve acquired display frames that are primed and ready for a total redo of my set up. I just need the time and space to make it happen.

On eBay I have 175 auctions running. These include a bunch of vintage council event patches, more killer GA OA and other items from recent collection purchases.
