Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 2, 2024
The last 3 1/2 days I’ve done little during the day but swap perhaps a thousand patches with Arrowmen at NOAC. Whether they were getting a set they wanted or just picking up a flap off my blanket and leaving their patch in its place. I can assure you the pastime of patch trading at National events is alive and well.
We have one more day at the event formerly known as Founder’s Day. This year it’s being called Elevate. As the temps have been in the high 90s all week long I am hoping to find a shady spot to make some final trades under a tree. I did shoot a video of the patch trading yesterday and will get it published perhaps for the Sunday issue.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
