Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter September 23, 2022
This week I pulled off a trial by fire first episode of Scouting Hot Finds Live. Tico Perez was my guest and he talked about why Scouts and Scouters should make plans to attend the 2023 National Scout Jamboree. I learned several new things during the show including an incredible opportunity for younger adults to serve on staff at a steep discount.
The live show also included an unboxing which is always fun. This one came from New Jersey and included lots of troop and camp issues. My goal was to keep the show at about 30 minutes just to make it digestible for people. Of course even with the fact that it was filmed live you can always go back and watch it as it’s posted on my website.
On eBay I have 193 live auctions a lot of neckerchiefs (camp, OA, contingent) plus RWS strips including some in the 1940s program colors. This week in the warehouse we have started getting 4 boxes of hats and even a box of t-shirts ready to list.
My wife took the news about my needing a storage unit complete the opposite of how I thought she would. She scolded me because I had just signed a 3-year lease on my current warehouse and asked if I knew I was outgrowing it why didn’t I try and find a bigger space. Boy I didn’t see that one coming!

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
