Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter November 18, 2022
Somehow in the span of an hour yesterday I met three different families on my picking trip to VA. I took my mom along for the 6-hour drive and we finished my business and enjoyed a great meal a the local Cracker Barrel before the dinner crowd arrived. Mission accomplished!
None of these collections were killer but for different reasons it made sense to bunch them together and just go get the items. Sadly that means that I came home with more mugs and books than I ever like to get in collections. But I’ll be sharing some of the neat things i picked up next week on social media. Today we are headed home for hopefully a fun Friday night of family games with my mom just before Thanksgiving week.
I have 329 live auctions on eBay this week with a nice chunk of those ending Sunday. The collections I bought will get sorted, scanned and turned around for eBay ASAP. Luckily, there are some real keepers in this stuff too including a VERY nice Air Explorer collection which is the #1 reason I made this trip. I met the guy who earned both his Eagle and Explorer Silver Award. He kept the medals but I got the rest which I’m tickled to now have.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
