In getting ready for the Girl Scout memorabilia show this weekend I’ve been swamping Becky Byrns with emails trying to figure out this new language of pinstripes and vivid green colors wheels. Some of the questions are similar to ones you might ask a BSA collector – things like do people collect backings or not.
The other thing that seems very similar to our hobby is that pricing seems all over the place. While the GSA has an amazing “bible” for collectors to try and figure out what a fair price is for memorabilia is a bit of a crap shoot. The category is much smaller than Boy Scouts but in some of the eBay stores you would think this stuff is made of gold.
So I’ve got to figure out the values so I can start trading and finding needs.
Similar to my other collections one thing I’m a stickler for is creating labels for my collection. Using the GSA collector’s guide I’ve made several spreadsheets that I’m going to eventually share with other collectors. I need to get them looked at by an expert before I put them out there on the net.
For the first time in months I’ve posted a new item up on CarolinaOA.com. This happens to be a post that has the design of next year’s activity patch set for my home lodge. Like many of my projects this website has been on the shelf as I went back to teaching but hopefully I can start bringing some of them out of the freezer. I’ve even talk to Brad England about recording an episode of Thread Heads this month.
