I am sure many collectors have had moments when they put something up for sale because of a bill coming due. I’ve got a pair of super tough Philmont Ranger jacket patches(1971, 1972) up for bids for a simple goal. Sophia’s fees for the 2019 WSJ are about $2500. Even selling these two won’t pay for 1/2 of the trip but it will sure make my payments a little more reasonable at this point.
I got a message from one of my old lodge brothers who has decided to go back and pick up some stuff for his collection. I think it goes to show a lot of guys were sorta interested in patches but maybe never quite caught the bug. Now that he has a little disposable income he is going to pick up some flaps that came out before his time. Like I always say men tend to collect their childhood.
So far this has been a busy month for Best Hobby Pages. Today I shipped an order less than an hour after it came in. Don’t expect that “Amazon quick” turnaround on most orders but I was already knocking out the orders and it was perfect timing. I think I’ve sold over 1200 4-pocket envelopes this month!
The Georgia collection that I’m selling includes more than 119. This week I’m also getting up some items from Hiawassee 333 and Wehadkee 273. Eventually I’ll get through all the lodges in the collection but I’m trying to do it systematically to keep things manageable.
Tomorrow I’m driving to Columbia, SC to attend the monthly Indian Waters Council camping committee meeting. We are in the thick of camp promotion season and it’s been a pretty good month. I had two troops indicate they were coming last week.
