I will have to give my wife kuddos for the holiday traditions she has spun up in our family. We really stretch out Christmas morning with stockings, eating, more presents and even fresh baked cinnamon buns delivered at the right time. In the coming hours my in-laws will depart and then it will be ready for some packing of my own.
We are headed down to Naples FLA for a winter vacation. The first stop is Savannah and then on down to (hopefully) sunny south Florida. On the way back home we are making a convenient stop in Jacksonville to see my Gamecocks play the Fighting Irish in the Gator Bowl. So all together this will be a well timed vacation. My daughter is off to college in the fall so we recognize that these all in family trips might become more complicated to pull off in the coming years.
On the Scouting front the theme for my holiday gifts was van camping (ok my gifts here not the ones I gave others). I got a solar powered battery system that I can use on any camping trip. When my wife talked me off the altar from buying a 1991 VW vanagon recently she planted the scene that I could up my game camping with my current minivan. So I’m dipping my toe into that.
