Tuesday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter December 19, 2023

The last few days I’ve been diving into my stacks of common rank patches from the last seventy years. I kinda consider everything post WWII to be fairly common. With the help of Paul Myers book that has color images and Mitch Reis’s book that categorizes and includes dates I have started listing these.

When you look at pricing for these patches it’s kinda all over the map. Some people have them listed for like $3 and some at $30. I also looked at sales and it’s amazing to see what some people can get for these patches. As you know eBay is not a perfect equal economy and things sell for all different prices every day. So we will see!

During the process of sorting these patches I am also building out my collection. I’ve already done this for rank patches but this week I’ve been doing it for youth position patches. I’ve come across some nice stuff like fine twill issues that will be keepers. What everyone has to decide is how granular do you want to go. Paul has many more varieties than Mitch although the two systems are very compatible.

I have 164 live auctions running on eBay. These include all types of rank and camp patches. I am winding down auctions on the other two accounts for the end of the year and focusing all my energy and listings on the main store.
