I had a pretty special visitor to the warehouse this week. Paul Myers was in the are visiting family and paid me a visit for a few hours. I have actually never stopped him at a TOR to say hello so it was my first time genuinely getting to meet him. The stories he could tell! It was a lot of fun hearing about all these cats of hobby legend both the good and scandalous tales. He has done a terrific service to the hobby building out his National Jamboree memorabilia history website. As he explained the whole idea is to preserve and pass down the information to the next generation.
Paul is working on a fascinating collection that is eclectic and that’s what I like about it. He has made up his own rules for the collection and was kind enough to show me color photocopies that he keeps in binders. He is going for the trifecta for each council he wants the first OA, council strips, RWS, or similar and camp patches with the council name on them. It’s a diverse and ambitious collecting journey that will always keep him in the hunt which is part of why I think it’s great.
