So what about WhatNot? Last night as I’m driving home from SC an old friend starts up a text thread (yes I used hands free!). He was watching a stream on the live selling App WhatNot. We got into a discussion of the platform and he indicated that with some of his old Star Wars stuff he was thinking of trying a show. I explained that I have been flirting with this idea for almost a year.
If you have not checked it out – it’s basically live selling. The sellers creates a stream in the platform and runs micro auctions that last anywhere from 5 seconds to maybe 30 as they show the pieces. In the app you can bid on the items live and it can move really fast with a lot about every minute. My thought all along has been to combine an unboxing with this platform. What do you think?
So my strategy would be for example to publish an unboxing video and then the very next night auction off everything in the box with something like a $1 starting bid. It might be fun to just try – especially if I don’t have a lot invested in the collection. I think it can work but then I also have to get people to show up for it.
On eBay I have 221 live auctions including some really nice PA felt camp patches and dozens (actually hundreds) of neckerchiefs. Take a look at my auction line up including many that have multiple bids.
