Friday Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter August 9, 2024
On the last full day of trading outside the Student Union at NOAC I recorded a seven minute video walking around to share the patch trading. As you watch the video you will see young and old faces having fun in a hot western sun.
The video is proof that good old fashioned patch trading is alive and well with the youth. How do we keep any of this energy going in the hobby is always the trick. My tip is encourage the youth to bring their patches to the next Scouting event and share with others. We say at NOAC the patch bug is contagious but the antidote does not have to be coming home!
Coming home from NOAC I had exactly 50 auctions to build on some new stuff that is complete sets with a limited run. I have these scheduled to end Saturday and Sunday. I’ve compressed my post 2024 NOAC run to just 1 week. Everything else is fixed price at a price that hopefully means I can move more than 1/2 of it before the wave crests in a few weeks.

I started collecting Boy Scout memorabilia when I was inducted into Santee Lodge 116, Order of the Arrow at Camp Coker in the summer of 1986. All the guys of ISWA chapter in Elk campsite seemed to be trading and since my dad sent me to camp with a small bag of patches, I jumped in and never looked back....
