It’s often true that for something to become a trend among teens that the “cool kids” must be doing it. At least that was my experience back in the 1980s. So in my lodge right now (somehow) it’s cool to have a patch briefcase. At Fellowship this weekend I took three that I got in recent collections and gifted them to interested Scouts.
But the big splash for me was bringing about 5 pounds of BSA stickers and pouring them on a table for adults and youth to pick through. My idea was that if you have a patch briefcase then you need to decorate it. I am sure that many of us that got started back in the day did the same. I may have given away a hundred or more stickers that I got from collections Saturday night. Recycling goal accomplished!
One of my camp staff alumni was running the lodge auction that night so I also enjoyed working with him to donate some items for the event. I had obligations back home so I had to leave before it started but I feel like with the crowd in that room it would have been a success.
On eBay I have 130 live auctions running on camp patches, OA and SAPs this week. Today I am meeting a family at the warehouse that are bringing some items that need to find a new home. The wheel keeps on turning.
