Sometimes I get Boy Scout collections mailed to me on preview. In this case the family knows for sure they want to get the items recycled back into Scouting and they trust me to give them a fair offer. In this video I have two boxes that came this which both needed to be opened and evaluated. These collections were from opposite sides of the country (Washington State & Georgia) but actually a few common items.
The box from WA featured the collection of a Scout that attended the 1975 World Scout Jamboree in Norway. You might laugh as I keep getting crumbs that lead me to this conclusion. The collection from GA actually has 3 different accumulations grouped together. The first is the Scout who went to the 1993 Jamboree from the Gulf Coast Council in Florida. He was a member of Yustaga Lodge 385 of the Order of the Arrow.
I also found a bag that had about 30 items from his father. I really geeked out about this part of the collection as his dad was an Air Explorer in the early 1960s who earned the Silver Award. In the video I can see there is a 3rd bag that is from a different 1970s time period. I speculated on camera that this could be from an uncle. But after going back through our email communication I found where he said a neighbor had given him Scout stuff many years ago.
If you have a bag or a box of Scouting memorabilia hiding in the dark of a closet, attic or basement and feel it’s time to get it back out there please reach out. I would love to help you get these into the hands of the next generation of Scout collectors.
