It has been over 2 months since the last episode of what was going to be a weekly video show. Best laid plans and all. However, the positive feedback from the concept has encouraged us to keep pushing the idea of doing video interviews, chats and other fun little projects for the hobby. So I hope you’ll take a few minutes to check out the new video posted at the bottom of this issue.
This episode was filmed at the 2015 SC TOR with 3 collectors getting behind the camera to talk about what’s makes going to a trade-o-ree special. Towards the end of the video we snag the event host Chris Jensen and ask him a little about plans for the 2015 NOAC TOR.
Right out of the start Todd Rogers shares how coming to a show can help make this a very personable hobby. Getting to meet and talk with other traders face-to-face helps build relationships that can last a long time. Along those lines the hosts also talk about the importance of finding mentors in the hobby to help you learn and grow your collection.
I’ve got three other videos already filmed that are going to be branded as Thread Heads – and plans are in the works to start doing some more Google hangout on air chats although weekly might be a little too ambitious.
The home for Thread Heads is www.ScoutPatchCollectors.com. In 2015 the site will continue to live into it’s mission to become a resource for the hobby.
In the Sunday newsletter I am going to continue to dip into the archives of my podcast Scouting Hot Finds Radio and share a serial rundown of all the previous shows. Today from November 2011 I have part 2 of the show I did with Jason Shull on collecting segregated Scout camp patches.
