Here’s to hoping that 2022 can put the misery of the last two years in the rear view mirror. The BSA bankruptcy and COVID have severely impacted the present condition and future hopes of our beloved Scouting movement. As I understand we are at a critical stage of the bankruptcy where the BSA either exits and lives or runs out of money all together. So 2022 is either going to be the year things turn around or not. But with a NOAC planned – a new reorganization plan in place and many parents yearning to get their kids off screens I think the BSA has a chance to make this year the come back.
In 2022 I hope that all of us find a way to re-engage with Scouting and find a way to help moving things forward. Whether it be serving on a committee, supporting your council financially, or most importantly getting involved with a local unit. For my part I will spend my 5th year as the summer camp director at Camp Barstow doing what I love as a “camp guy”.
I have 256 live auctions on eBay this week with a bunch of them ending Sunday. Over on Shopify I’m still running a 22% off sale through the weekend with free shipping on all orders.
My family is spending the New Years holiday in Asheville, NC. We got to walk around downtown yesterday and are going to Biltmore this afternoon. My wife didn’t let me go any of the 1/2 dozen antique malls in town looking for Scout stuff. But we did enjoy shopping with the kids and have eaten at some good restaurants. Happy New Year!
