I wanted to share the sad news that we lost Stan Nester this past weekend. For those of you who have never met Stan he was a prolific Ohio collector who had lived in North Carolina for some years. He was a regular at the Charlotte TOR and many other shows. Most of all he was a super nice guy – one of those you would love to catch up with at any event. I did not know him as well as many others that he had long history with but Stan was always a gem. He lived less than 5 minutes from my first warehouse in Charlotte and I would sometimes hand deliver his orders rather than mailing them a couple miles down the road.
Stan was at the Easley TOR and as Larry Banks told me he wasn’t feeling well but really wanted to make the trip. I think like a lot of us Stan missed the camaraderie of seeing all the patch collectors come together at a trade-o-ree. I got to the TOR late and didn’t get to spend time walking the room and chatting with everyone until Saturday. Stan’s visitation is this Friday and the funeral is set for Saturday in Mint Hill, NC.
Yesterday I spent a little bit of time putting away the recent additions to my OA name/number flap collection. I’m down to 3 key needs so I thought I’d share them here in case anyone has leads. Like many I need a 241 Tomahawk, 304 Cayucos and a 525 Pachachoag. If you have a lead on any of these three please let me know. My goal is to finish the collection this spring and get the entire collection mounted in frames prior to summer camp.
I have 275 live auctions on eBay this week including OA and pins. Today I am going to be focused on listing new items especially some neat stuff from Utah and some common insignia that I have stacks of.
